<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">Global Educational Excellence Academies follow the mandated state guidelines for all academic and non-academic subjects. Students participate in a program that focuses on the essential academic disciplines, including: reading, writing, mathematics, history, government, economics, the sciences and social science. Students also enjoy health and fitness, fine arts, technology and world language classes. Global Educational Excellence Academies instruct students in K through 12 in a foreign language. (Spanish in Victory Academy and Arabic in all other Academies)</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">The location of Global Educational Excellence Academies creates a unique environment rich with students who speak another language at home. To meet the needs of these students Global Educational Excellence has trained all staff on the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol. This research based model of working with English as Second Language Students and teaching content to English Learners in strategic ways that make the subject matter concepts comprehensible while promoting the students' English Language development.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">To further the curriculum alignment between Academies, a team of teachers from all of Global Educational Excellence has mapped out the core curriculum using the Curriculum Mapping Software developed by Rubicon International. The model followed by the teachers follows the Understanding by Design model developed by Wiggens and McTighe.</span></span></p> <h3><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: medium;">Assessment</span></span></h3> <p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">Global Educational Excellence Academies understand that measuring academic success requires more than just looking at grades on a report card four times a year. As such, all of our schools participate in the standardized test for their respective state. These tests serve to measure our students' performance against state curriculum standards to ensure our students are receiving the proper instruction.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;">They also serve as a good way to measure year-over-year progress and compare school performance across an entire state. The data from the state standardized test results are closely evaluated at each of our schools to assess areas of strength and weakness so that we can continually tailor instruction as needed.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: comic sans ms,sans-serif;"> Global Educational Excellence Academies also participate in the Scantron Ed Performance test twice a year, which allows for the teaching and administrative staff to see student growth over a school year.
